Guerilla Atelier

I thought I would  check out the Arts District in Downtown LA and found Guerilla Atelier, an amazing luxury fashion Atelier.
Carl Louisville, the founder, explained that he was inspired to mimics the shops of Paris in the 19th century and create a modern boutique style in DTLA.
Carl explained that for 15 years, he managed Prada in Beverly Hills, where he was surrounded with a world of luxury and decided to experiment with a pop-up of his inspirational ideas on the weekends
It was a huge success!
So he made the decision to leave Prada and devote himself full-time to open Guerilla Atelier
Carl has really created an beautiful and inspirational environment of one of a kind specialty item…that likely will not be found anywhere else.
If you have a chance  take a look its a wonderful experience.

Summer Seed Starting 2014

Well Thanks to Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company, I decided to give it a try and start my vegetable garden from scratch with new heirloom varieties and some seeds I saved from last summers harvest.
I planed out the minifarmboxes and planted seeds then covered with deer netting to keep the squirrels and birds away.
Then took another set of seeds and used starters containers and planted them, covering with cheese cloth to keep damp and protect from the birds squirrels and wind
I'm excited to see how this works out

Cheetah The Nelson Vail's Story + Fight Back

Nelson Vails' story is a triumph over almost insurmountable odds. Nelson was the youngest of 10 children growing up in the Harlem projects and worked as a New York City bicycle messenger to support his family. Nicknamed "The Cheetah" because he was the fastest cat in the jungle, Nelson rode furiously while working, trained in Central Park after work and raced locally on weekends.  He was thrust on to the world stage, represented the USA at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where he won the silver medal in the individual 1000-meter Match Sprints, behind countryman Mark Gorski.  Becoming a pioneer for the African-American cycling community, this documentary explores the beginnings of his life in Harlem and his impact on the future generation of cyclists worldwide.
I was fortunate enough to attend the afternoon opening matinee with Fight Backan organization teaching mixed martial arts, the philosophy that sport has the power to involve individuals and transform communities.

Wandering at Chåteau Rouge

Last year I went to Chåteau Rouge to get my African Fabrics and thought it was such a great day I would go wander the nieghborhood.
It certainly was not without its sense of style, creativity or culture
All these individuals selling items from bags on the street...everything from nuts to eggplant to these dried fish from the Congo... and the Police would come and they would pick up their bags and scatter ... then 5 minutes later as soon as the police left they were back...

Falafel Pita Végétarienne

I am so in LOVE with these now in Paris...Down the street from my apartment is Falafel Cafe and they do Fabulous emporter!:-)
So I get the vegetarian pita with Falafel ... hummus, lettuce, tomato, marinated red onions, cilantro, mint, tahini, falafel, grilled eggplant, and a couple of olives on Pita!!! SO GOOD!
They also make a Galette Libanaise Zaatar Extra but the galette machine for the fresh dough is broken today:-(..so I don't have any pictures but they roll out fresh dough and cover it with olive oil and zaatar and cook it on the dome shaped grill, fill it, roll it to eat, also Amazing.
I want to remember these delicious flavors when I cook at home!

Astier de Villatte et Maison & Objet

Wow! Astier de Villatte is just so incredible!
I was really blown away by their presentation at Maison & Objet show. They constructed a full store inside the hall! But unlike others it was a real vision, charming, romantic, playful and beautiful like their brand.

RER Back into Paris

Every time I ride the train into Paris there are so many interesting little places with all kinds of art,  graffiti...and tagging somehow different than what I see in NYC or LA.
When I was coming back from Maison Objet I thought I would try to catch some as we ride along.... after what seemed like a million attemps I was so happy to have this one :-)
